My fifth and final Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge post is inspired by the creepy chap on the left – this weeks photo prompt for FFfAW which, I’m sure, will inspire all sorts of scary Clown stories. Thank you Lynn for nominating me for the challenge – it’s been great fun.

And my final nomination to join the challenges goes to – YOU! Leave a comment to let me know you fancy the challenge. According to the rules, you are supposed to post a photo and a story (though the interpretation of story is broad: could be a poem, a short paragraph talking about the photo, fiction, non-fiction, whatever suits your blog…). You’ll also have to nominate another blogger to join the challenge in each post, but nomination doesn’t mean they have to join – it’s an invitation, really. So if you want to play, tell me.

Five Photos, Five Stories – Day 5: Fooled

‘Have you heard, guys? We’re getting new uniforms. Effective immediately, apparently they’re on the way,’ Jerry says.

I see through it straight away, but Belle buys it. She looks at the photo of the clown. The horror that grips her is written all over her face. She looks down at the sleek uniform she’s wearing, all black but for the slate-grey apron. She takes off her hipster glasses and daps at her eyes with a napkin.

‘No, no, no. They can’t do this to me.’

‘Calm down, Belle. What’s the date today?’

Belle screams. Jerry and I howl with laughter.

  1. Ha! Ha! It’s like a nightmare come true. CLOWNS. I hate dressing up at the best of times, but dressing up as a clown… Kill me now. Nice send off for the challenge, though 🙂

    1. Scary story was my first thought. But I wanted to wrap up the Five Photos, Five Stories challenge and use April Fools… There’s quite a lot scary clowns already, anyway. Cheers, PJ 🙂

  2. The hipster glasses are a great touch (I usually call them Morrissey glasses, but not many people know what I mean)
An entertaining send-off for the challenge, and I am glad it was only an April Fools joke!

    1. Yeah, I suppose Morrissey glasses would work. You can’t walk into a coffee shop in London without at least one barista wearing them… Thank you, Francesca 🙂

  3. Ah, man. That’s not very nice (lol). Hopefully Belle has a great and genuine sense of humor and doesn’t just laugh it off for the sake of her friends. 😦 🙂 😛 Btw, what a delicious image you captured.

  4. Great story, Sonya! I can easily imagine the horror! This actually took me right back. When I first started work at the play area 12 years ago our uniforms were based on clown costumes – multi-coloured tops, and trousers with one leg red stripes, the other blue checks. Luckily we didn’t have to paint our faces like clowns! Even now my brother still refers to my work as ‘clowning’. 🙂

  5. Hahaha, I’m laughing with Jerry too :D. I cannot imagine the thought of wearing a Clown costume as uniform, no wonder belle was horrified. This is such a wonderful light read 🙂
