tick tock
Sound of the clock.
tick tock tick tock
Seconds flock from future to past, relentless and metronome-steady; you know you won’t last forever but that won’t stop you from trying.
tick tock
Minutes mock by not passing and then – you’re not looking – an hour has gone. But what is one hour?
tick tock tick tock
Days, weeks, months stack up, the beat of the metronome faded to background noise.
tick tock
Years, decades, a lifetime, the tick tock has knocked them out of you second by irreplaceable second.
tick tock tick tock
Sound of the clock.
tick tock
It flies by sometimes and others it’s as slow as can be! Very good!

I agree with Writersdream… It can drag or whoosh by… but always when we wish the opposite 😀 It’s not weird. It’s great!!

This is fantastic. “Seconds flock from future to past, relentless and metronome-steady” — love how you relate time’s passage to a metronome and continue that image all the way through with “tick tock” references. 🙂

Great poem on seconds. I kind of got a weird vibe from it like someone is trying to beat – get passed the seconds before they are caught. It’s because it reminds me of Edger Allan Poe, ‘The Pit or The Pendelum.” It is a scary story. Your’s wasn’t scary or anything it just had that slightly weird vibe to it — in my mind. Great job!

Oh, there is definitely something weird going on here… I think I have to go and re-read The Pit and the Pendulum now, it’s been years since I’ve read it.
Thank you 🙂
