Excuse me while I step on the soapbox & rant about freedom

100 words about freedom

You hear the word freedom bandied about

in politicians’ speeches, newspaper columns

and on social media by nobodies who

think because the platforms are there they ought

to use them to spout opinions best kept under wraps.

Wars in the name of

Surveillance in the name of

Hate speech in the name of

Bullying in the name of

Freedom.

Day in day out, professional and amateur morons alike do

the bad guys’ work for them in the name of freedom.

Because what is done in the name of freedom

must, by definition, be the right thing.

Newspeak at its best.

</soapbox>

I’m sure I’ve said this before: Dystopia is my default setting. You’ll never get something upbeat out of me when you throw ‘freedom’ at me.
