Dear Readers,
I need your help. I stumbled across Damon Wakes’ Flash Fiction Day earlier and couldn’t resist signing up for it (Doesn’t it look fun? You can still sign up, too, if you fancy it).
I don’t know how many stories I’ll manage to write. I’d like to write at least twelve. None of them longer than 100 words (obviously), but it’s still a lot. I’ll need plenty of inspiration. From you. A single word, a starting line, photo prompts, a (fictional) response to a recent post of yours – anything you’d like to see me use during my story marathon, pop it in the comments, please.
I am not going to promise I’ll use every prompt. But I’ll try.
OK, I’ll play! Here are a few, just right off the top of my head:
As the ground rose up to meet her, she thought, “It’s going to rain…”
Kristen sighed as the windshield wipers wiped the bluebird of happiness across the cracked glass.
Staring at the crack over the bed, Bobby began imagining things that would keep him awake for a week.
“Flibbertigibbet.”
Once the gerbil tasted blood, it was hooked.
At least two of the above are taken from real life. I’ll leave it to you to imagine which two.

I’ll give you one that I made a random story from:
“The rain soaked through her cardigan, drenching her skin”

Thanks! Shame you’re busy, but I suppose work has to come first…

Until I win the lottery it does Sonya haha… I might have a go tomorrow night though. Even if it just gets me to do one story it’s better than none. Sometimes you need the push to get the pen writing!

Good luck also, I wish I could do it, but I’ll be working most of the day 😦

My first thoughts:
Forgetting what you need to remember, or remembering what you want to forget.
The last kiss.
Fur so soft.
As fragile as tissue.
I thought her eyes were green.
The wrong glass.
Cobwebs in every corner.
Hidden in the basket.
Have fun!

I know all of you will have a good laugh at this one! BREAD
then try these 🙂
The night she lost it all/control
There’s something to be said about living in a shoe
Little mouse found (in) the cheese hole
That second part/sip/step won’t kill you
The struggle against silence
(Don’t) pick up the broken glass
purging, solemn, ubiquitous, housewife, colour coordinated
I can’t wait to read the posts!

Working tomorrow but have signed up anyway. Even if I only get to write one, it’ll be fun to join in.

Oh yes, she’s lovely. Thanks Lynn! Good to hear you’ve signed up, too – help yourself to a writing prompt if you want, there’s enough knocking about 🙂

Glad you liked her! She’s gorgeous 🙂 Only managed five and I suspect that’s me done for the day. Cracking fun, though – thanks for sharing the link. Looking forward to reading yours tomorrow. 🙂

I’m quite interested to see what you do with just 100 words to work with: that’s always seemed like an interesting format. Some things I think might make for neat stories:
“The Top Ten Spork-Related Life Hacks You’ve Never Heard Of!”
“It looked significantly less like a World War Two stick grenade in the photograph.”
Also, this rather impressive photo of a wasp: http://animalia-life.com/data_images/wasp/wasp2.jpg

No problem! I’m totally astounded by the response this year: nearly 10 hours in (in my time zone) and there are still new people signing up. Thanks for being a part of it.
