    Hank Gunter got the heebie-jeebies when too many people came his way.

    He’d shake his head like an antique wringer washer, panic would wash over his face like a scabby old dishcloth, and he’d barge out of the house, scurry to the field as if the devil himself was chasing him.

    Once settled in on his tractor, once he had gotten it humming away with its simple and familiar rhythm, Hank would, at last, relax a bit.
