You’ll find full guidelines on the TLT page – here’s the tl;dr:

  • Write three lines inspired by the photo prompt (& give them a title if possible).
  • Link back to this post (& check the link shows up under the weekly post).
  • Tag your post with 3LineTales (so everyone can find you in the Reader).
  • Read and comment on other TLT participants’ lines.
  • If you want your post to be included in the round-up, you have until Sunday evening to publish it.
  • Have fun.

Happy three-lining!

  1. Hi Sonya – I’ll have to put something together sharpish. We seem to have been writing similar work – 100 word stories. I’ve just passed the 100th story of my own over at – Would love to share a few to your readers. Pick a genre, see what you like. Suggest a word too 🙂

  2. The Terrarium

I wondered whether she could see me as clearly as I could see her, even as the mask only revealed her dark eyebrows, the pale formation of her forehead, almost glowing in the green.

Each day she stood there, a flowering coquette, replicating the pose from the day before and each day before that.

Finally, I succumbed, approached her hesitantly, asked, “a brandy, perhaps, across the way?” and only then did she lower the leaf, a maple, some similar shape at any rate, for I did not know my leaves then, and go with me.

  3. I found this page though the blog Occasional Dreams. It’s my first one this week, but seems like something I can keep up with. By the way, that is a very interesting picture choice. Gave me an idea right away!

  4. Sonya, I am hesitating because true to the game I wrote a three lined poem. But the picture it wanted more, so the poem is above the picture and a story that exceeds your count is underneath. It isn’t book long but it just came and now I am not sure if you will want to even look 😯😕 I will sleep on it and maybe post it if you haven’t objected in the morning….

        1. No, I wouldn’t do that. I went for three lines because I wanted something that seems feasible for people who are short of time. But I’ll never stand in the way of inspiration 🙂
