    Some have grand moments to draw on, shared passage, some measure of accomplishments recognized, feted, awarded.

    It was all lost on Lucas Slight, a man, barely known, once a child, hardly seen.

    “This has been the way of my life,” he said, sipping his warm potato soup, reflecting on his times, wondering how it had all unfolded without anyone noticing, anyone, that is, other then me, the one who had ladled the soup into the cracked china bowl, who had taken a few minutes to sit down with him, to break bread before he moved on into the night.
